Seeing the Home Beyond the Price Tag

If you’ve been following along, you know this year has been a lot. I moved to Washington in January, passed my real estate exam in July, got my license activated in August, and landed my first few clients. Right now I’m in the thick of helping them find their dream homes.
These first few weeks as a licensed agent have been one big learning curve. Some days it feels like drinking from a fire hose. But here’s what I’ve noticed: every little step I take is putting me in front of the right people. People who want to work with me and trust me to help them find home.
And there’s one thing I keep coming back to with my clients: helping them see the future, not just where they are right now.
The number isn’t the whole story
A lot of conversations start with a number. What someone wants to pay, or what they think they can afford. That number matters. But it’s not the whole picture.
In today’s market, buyers have a lot more room to negotiate than they did a few years ago. That means deals that once felt out of reach might actually line up with what you’re trying to do. Sometimes it’s even worth looking at a house that feels like a stretch at first.
That’s exactly why having the right team in your corner matters. The right people help you see past the obstacles and spot the potential. And it all starts with one question: what are your short-term and long-term goals?
Two buyers, two very different paths
Say you’re single and buying your first place. There’s a good chance you’ll outgrow it in a few years. Maybe you don’t want a fixer-upper. Maybe something more turnkey makes sense, in an area where you can build equity, so when it’s time to sell, you walk away with a profit.
Or maybe you’re looking for the one. The home you want to live in, grow in, and stay in. In that case, instead of paying top dollar for a freshly renovated house, you might find a fixer-upper you can move into and slowly shape into your dream, without the heavy price tag up front.
There are so many options. You just need someone who can see them.
Getting out of your own way
I say this from experience. When I’ve bought homes in the past, I got in my own head. From ground level, it’s easy to get stuck and miss the home that would actually get you closer to where you want to be down the road.
So if you’re sitting there thinking should I buy? should I wait? should I even be looking? — reach out. I’d love to just talk it through with you. No pressure, no obligation. I got into this because I wanted to make this process feel a little less overwhelming, and I’d genuinely love to help you.
Let’s find your way home. 🏡
